The Virtual Museum project started in 2009 with Professor Doctor Luisa Arruda and Master Alberto Faria, financed by Banco BPI. The aim was to create a platform for dissemination and online research of the Old Drawing Collection of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon.
In 2013, an interdisciplinary team composed by Ana Mafalda Cardeira, Camila Mortari, Gonçalo Branco, João Murtinheira and Paulo Alves proposed, under the
Program of Support for Extracurricular Activities of the University of Lisbon, the expansion into other collections and creation of a virtual tour of the Convent of San Francisco City, the current Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon.
Thereby, the website has been redesigned to improve the user experience and interface, as well as to include the Collection of Etching,
inventoried by Master Maria Teresa Sabido, which became available in its entirety, and the Virtual Tour, composed of key elements from Sculpture exposed at the Faculty.
Looking ahead, it is expected with this project that other collections will also become available on this platform, aiming at promoting this practice in other institutions on a national and international level.
